Soleus was still shaking, and quiet, just watching the crowd like he wasn't really aware of what was going on. He didn't say anything for a while, not listening to what his sister was saying. When he eventually spoke his words were quiet and his voice sounded all wrong. "That's not what we were supposed to do, was it, Tiff?" He lifted his dipped head, and continued, trying to glance over what had just happened; his outburst, her rage. His eyes were wide and his voice sounded strangely young, wavering uncharacteristically.

"Uhm, not quite, I don't think." she was looking around as she spoke, making sure that no one was looking at them for too long or connecting them to the explosion down the road. She stopped once they were a safe distance & brushed the dust of powdered & broken glass from Soleus' robes, plucking a shard from mussed up hair & flicking it away.
The scene felt horribly nostalgic & she knew it would be familiar if she hadn't drained all of her childhood memories into her pensieve. She reached up & harshly plucked a little shard from his cheek, flicking it away as well & using her thumb to stop the little river of blood that began to drip down from it.

Soleus ducked under an archway, leaning into the wall to take some of his weight. He watched her pulling glass from him, but his thoughts were still inside that room, where he had seen all of the women in his life that he cared for maimed and cruelly pass before him. And the whole scene was made even worse by it's irony. He had failed. He'd failed just now, not being able to defeat the boggart. His jaw twitched madly, a tendon jumping obscenely in his neck. "We need another. Where did you get it?" He was speaking too fast and his voice was strained. He looked up and down the street. He was so disappointed in himself, and he was desperate to prove that he could do it; he wasn't a failure, he couldn't be.

"Don't be an idiot." she said to him, but her voice was almost nice, despite her words. She tried to think about what they'd learned for after-care in a boggart incident but was unable to. For the most part, defeating it properly would usually help diminish the negative emotions. But she hadn't defeated it, she'd murdered it.
"We need to go to the apothecary before we leave." she informed him, clearly taking the this-didn't-happen route, despite how obviously it had affected her.

Soleus stared at her, his neck still twitching. "Tiffany! I mean it. Not right now but- I mean it. We need another. Soon. I'm going to defeat that stupid creature." His tone was harsh and his words came out too loudly, as he tried to distract her out of her routine. "It's a couple of fucking scratches. It's nothing." He said angrily, thinking she meant for his cuts. He shook his head aggressively, wanting to punch a wall, but now calm enough to control his anger, unlike he had been in the room that was now considerably more drafty.

"Soleus - " she started to protest, before quirking an eyebrow. "Maybe you'd like to talk to Snape, then. He's likely got a few kicking around." Whether she meant at school or in a more private setting was unclear. Either would work, though.
"Not for you." she snapped, but, giving him a considerable glance, added, "That could scar, though." she flickered her gaze to the little cut on his cheek. It was hardly a big wound, but she knew how highly he valued his face. She hummed thoughtfully, then picked up her walking pace a little, more machine-like than ever. Her eyes had gone from cold to lifeless, the only thing she still seemed to convey emotionally was productivity.

Soleus wiped the small cut, splattering blood across his palm messily, as he paced to keep up with her. "Are you just going to pretend that nothing just happened?" His frown was deep and his voice still strained heavily.

"Something happened." she said simply, glancing at him for only a fraction of a second. "We fought a boggart. And now it's dead. If you're displeased with your performance than by all means, I encourage you to try again. Right now, I need a rabies vaccination & some arsenic." she stopped in front of the Apothecary & held open the door for him, gesturing with just her eyes & a small nod of her head for him to enter before herself.
The shop itself was small, cramped, the shelves far too close together & everything seemed to be covered in a thin layer of dust - including the shopkeep, a withered elderly lady who was sitting silently & perfectly still on the chair behind the counter. If it weren't for her eyes darting about to follow the pair of them as they moved, she'd have easily been mistaken for a corpse.

Soleus paused at the entrance, and shot Tiffany a look that proved his heritage perfectly. He was still entirely pissed off at himself and his temper wasn't holding well to tolerate her sarcasm, too. He kept quiet, though, and strode past her into the tiny shop, which was too cramped for his liking, being used to having all the space in the world. Soleus stood in a corner, arms folded.
"I don't mean to pry, but what the fuck do you need those for?" He said in a low voice, flicking his eyes to the woman, and back to Tiffany, pretty sure that she was probably entirely or at least nearly deaf, but keeping his voice quiet anyway just to be sure. As he turned his head to look, he knocked it on a dangling, strange-looking chime, which loudly tinkled, the crystal pieces knocking together. He groaned, and had to fight hard not to rip the thing off the ceiling and crush it. He wasn't doing well today.

"I have rabies, didn't I tell you?" she shot back sarcastically, giving him an obvious sort of look & shaking her head before hunting down some of the jars that she needed.
"Honestly, I have no idea what you're mad at me for, it was your idea to jump right in." she pointed out, voice shaky as she continued to fight with herself to maintain a calm exterior.

Soleus looked unimpressed, an eyebrow cocked angrily. "Hmm, yeah." He said, trying to keep his voice low but failing, sarcasm coating his words harshly. "You didn't give me chance to defeat it, though! You can't defeat a boggart by fucking killing the damn thing, that's not the point!" His arms were unfolded now, and he was close to her, fists balled up and eyes sharp. "So what, do you think it was a bad idea? Do you think it would have made more sense for you to go off like that in front of Yaxely?"

"Looked like a good time to step in." she commented airily, lifting a jar from the shelf in both hands & eying the label. Latin. Setting it back down, she moved down the row a little more.
His words caused her to stop walking & turn to him slowly, only catching his eye for a fraction of a second before having to look away. "Maybe." her words were half-thoughtful & half just to spite him for even bringing it up, fingers gripping her wand in her sleeve still, as she noticed for the first time since the explosion down the road. If she'd fought it with Yaxely, her anger might have come sooner. The combination of the boggart's effect & Brent in her ear, telling her how pathetic she was being - the fear of him seeing more of her boggart than she wanted him to, it might have spurred her into action sooner. She was grabbing at straws, now, angry with herself.

"No. No, It wasn't" He said sternly. Soleus made a scoffing sound, and turned on his heel to leave the shop. He strode out, slamming the door a little too loudly behind him. He leaned against the shop front, lighting up another cigarette clumsily and breathing heavily. He had to calm down, but for some reason the thought of Tiffany - his Tiffany, his sister - preferring to train with him made his insides turn uncomfortably, even though he knew he was taking it too far to heart, and he was angry with himself, too. He wasn't going anywhere, he just needed some air. As he managed to light it, he took a drag, closed his eyes and leaned back, tipping his head to meet the wall, letting the muggle concoction work it's magic.

Tiff watched him leave & considered following, until her view out of the little dusty window confirmed that he was waiting outside & not going anywhere further. She finished picking out what she needed & paid the woman quickly, heading out with the syringes & small bottle clinking in her cloak pocket.
Stepping out & looking at Soleus wordlessly, one eyebrow raising a little, she watched him take another drag. "If you'd rather me leave you to train alone, next time, I will." she said, her voice sounding cold but the undertone spoke that she would genuinely do whatever it was in this situation that he wished. He had been training for longer than she had. He had been a death eater for longer than she had.

Soleus stopped mid-drag, and pushed his lips together, letting the smoke roll around while he considered his response. He didn't do anything quickly. In his opinion, everyone did everything too fast all the time. Even the way he spoke was lazy, a slow drawl that gave people time to think, to doubt what they had said, perhaps. When he was working, trying to get information out of someone or simply threatening a loose link, instead of shouting a hundred questions and demanding answers he would calmly ask a question, and wait with his fixed, piercing gaze, giving the poor soul time to wonder about what was coming next, panic, and spill. He had thought briefly about where he had inherited his ways from and had concluded it must be from his father, as Bellatrix wasn't known for her calm exterior. When he spoke he let the smoke tumble out. "You know I've trained alone long enough," he scratched his chin with his free thumb and mirrored her expression. "But whatever." he tried to add nonchalantly, looking down at the ground, almost shrugging.
