Charlotte was, to the say the least, a bit stressed. The last time she'd seen Broderick, there hadn't been a single mention of Tiffany - which the blonde was certainly not complaining about. In fact, she actually went out of her way to avoid the topic completely. Broderick already knew that Charlotte wasn't the most popular at Hogwarts, but she hated having people pity her, or feel sorry for her. She knew her boyfriend wouldn't be condescending at all, but the idea of him just feeling bad for her made her feel useless, and vulnerable. The last time he'd seen them together, she'd been hanging upside-down by her ankle while Tiffany, naked on her boyfriend's couch, left her dangling there.
She didn't like whatever it was that Tiffany had with Broderick - whether it was some sort of twisted friendship, or she just was trying to get under Charlotte's skin, or worse of all of the possibilities - she had some much more serious alliance-driven intent. Living with Thorfinn worried her enough - she didn't need all of these death eaters encroaching on sacred territory. Weirdly enough, though, Ashley had been avoiding her. Tiffany wasn't in classes, which was strange on it's own, & she hadn't seen Broderick in a few days. She'd finally cornered her best friend, & interrogated the Slytherin until she gave up the information about what the ever-loving hell was going on. Ashley was loyal to her friends & family - but Charlotte fell into that category too, & if she was stuck in a tough place, the other girl usually chose the truth as her best option.
The fact that Tiffany was sick & bedridden only slightly sweetened the situation for Charlotte, but it didn't totally mask that she was staying at Brodericks - something that shot a jolt of jealousy through her veins. Not only that, but he hadn't even mentioned it to her - no wonder she hadn't seen him so far the last few days.
As she headed out of the school to go into the village after classes the next afternoon, she weaved through the crowd of students & caught sight of Broderick standing at the bottom of the outdoor staircase waiting, likely for her - she couldn't see another reason he'd be there, unless, (the thought made her sick) he was picking something up on Tiffany's behalf.
"Don't wanna talk to you." she mumbled poutily as she passed by him, ducking to the side when he reached in her direction as she passed.
