Theo was crossing the courtyard when he saw Mace stood talking with a group of giggling girls from his year. He nibbled his lip thoughtfully, unsure of how to proceed. The thing was, Theo had visited the library early this morning, and upon entering the restricted section with his special pass, he had come face-to-face with a situation he dreaded, a dusty slot where his desired book should have been - someone else had his book. Theo's face dropped, as did his posture, as he slumped towards Madam Pince to find out who had comitted this terrible crime. He was unimpressed when he found out - Mace Marsden. Theo exhaled noisily and went to eat breakfast sadly. After he had eaten his stack of pancakes he as on his way out when he say Mace. He nervously stepped forward and stood next to one of the girls awkwardly trying to catch Mace's attention. The girl nearest him looked at him oddly. "Are you new or something?" She asked, flicking her hair. Theo nibbled his lip again, shaking his head, and looked to Mace.

Detention and extra essays really were a pain in the ass, especially when they were taking up precious time in which Mace could be doing other extra curricular activity, the same activity that got him in this situation to begin with: an essay from the restricted section on medieval wizarding punishment laws. Some of them were pretty grim, and he assumed that was why it was a restricted section book: to avoid anyone getting smart ideas.
Glancing up from the girl who'd caught his attention in particular, his hand moving to twist the end of her hair around her finger he glanced in the direction of Theo, his eyebrow raised expectantly, wondering why the boy who sat quietly and got on with his work was even taking his time to come over, "maybe he wants help with picking up a girl-" one girl muttered, causing Mace to roll his eyes just a tiny bit. "After something?" He questioned finally, his body moving to face Theo.

Theo gave the girl a look, an eyebrow raised a fraction, then caught Mace's eye once more, eyes darting shyly to the girls while he spoke. "Erm, the book you checked out two days ago.." He adjusted his tie a little, uncomfortable. "Are you done with it yet?" He raised his eyebrows, his expression neither friendly nor unfriendly, but hopeful.

Combing his hand through his hair Mace cocked a brow at Theo. " A book." He started, sounding somewhat disbelieving that a Slytherin student would come over asking for something that was bound together pieces of paper. Mace shifted slightly, hand dropping from the girls hair to his side. "You're going to have elaborate on which book you mean."

Theo frowned a little at the boy's reaction, confused at his expression, and how he had forgotten. "Restricted section. The one on Medieval Punishment and Wizarding Law." He said, believing that that would be enough information for Mace. He glanced at the girls again, a little irritated by the giggling and chatting that was happening around him.

Mace was genuinely a little confused, even beside his favourite past time, he was actually pretty smart and his grades were above average for most of his year group. So he had more than one book out of the library, especially being his final year, he cared about graduating with good grades. "Ah, that one." He snapped his fingers together before shaking his head. "Not at the moment, what do you need it for?"
