Charlotte immediately removed her arm & cleared her throat, a blush creeping up her neck nervously.
"Right. Sorry." she stammered nervously, shifting her weight from foot to foot.

Lisa laughed and shook her head "it's fine don't worry about it" she smiled sweetly then cocked her head to the side "if you ever want to talk or change your mind you are welcome to let me know" she beamed brightly.

Charlotte put up a hand to stop the other girl from leaving just quite yet.
"Why," she asked, pausing as if she couldn't even fathom a possible answer, "are you being nice to me?" her tone was a mixture of awe & suspicion. Part of her desperately wanted to believe that it was genuine, which caused the sort of awe in her, so curious about why, but a much larger part of her was angry, defensive, and suspicious. People just weren't 'nice' to her without ulterior motives.

Lisa rolled her eyes and shook her head with a playful smirk "I am trying to be nice" she looked at her sweetly and gently nudged her "I have a lot of friends and although we do not talk much that doesn't mean I don't care"

"You're doing a pretty okay job." Charlotte conceded, giving the other girl a sort of reluctant half-smile. "Forgive me, I'm not exactly a friend-maker." she used airquotes as she explained herself, tilting her head with a smirk.
"Even moreso, people don't try to be my friend."

"well I have no malicious motives I swear" Lisa smiled sweetly and nodded "I really don't think people dislike you as much as you think they do, it's not like you are a Slytherin" Lisa crinkled up her nose and flipped her hair over her shoulder in distaste.

Charlotte snorted, "My best friend is in Slytherin." she said, keeping a perfectly straight face, just wanting to see if this other girl would squirm. Personally, Charlotte found most of the Slytherins fairly repulsive, but that wouldn't keep her from trying to mess with other people who thought the same.

"yes well Ashley would have been an attribute to Ravenclaw anyway" Lisa smirked at Charlotte cheekily Slytherin or not Lisa was a notorious gossip she was hardly rude unless provoked but that didn't mean she wasn't in the know of pretty much everyone elses business.

"RIGHT?" Charlotte exclaimed, clearly agreeing, before clearing her throat & blushing at her own outburst.
"I mean, to be honest, she's way too smart. Not to mention not nearly cunning enough. I don't think I can remember her ever doing something for her own favour & no one else." she admitted with a little fond smile. "That's beside the point. I didn't realize you even knew her." she quirked an eyebrow, suspicious & suddenly defensive for her friend.

Lisa laughed at how defensive Charlotte instantly became "I know pretty much every one in my year and the year below as well as above me for instance you're Charlotte 7th year around 5ft you have no siblings your uncle is your guardian who I'm sorry is a fine piece of wizard himself" she smirked with perky shrug then continued "bestfriends with Ashley Godfrey I think the closest thing you have to another friend NO OFFENSE....is Peeves..." she cocked an eyebrow innocently.

"For your information Peeves is cool as hell." she pouted a little, crossing her arms.
A thought struck her, & she smirked gloatingly, "And you left out the ghost of the quidditch pitch." Only a few students had spotted said 'ghost' and no one seemed to be able to offer any real proof. As far as anyone else was concerned, it was just an urban legend around the school, & no such ghost existed.

Lisa raised her eyebrows and stared at Charlotte as if she grew another head "ghost of the quidditch pitch...is that even actually a thing or were you knocking back some squid slime and thought you saw one" she smirked right back cheekily.

Charlotte blinked back, then smirked.
"You don't know what I'm talking about? I thought you knew everyone. I thought you were 'up on the times'." she smirked even moreso, now, not being cruel, but pretty sure that she knew which buttons to press. The truth was, Charlotte had only seen the ghost once - he'd interrupted her on her way back to her dorm from sneaking around at night & had stalled her long enough to get her caught. The subsequent detention that that brought to the table had been the thing that stopped her from seeing Thorfinn the very moment he got back - at least that was what she told herself.

Lisa snorted at Charlotte "Why would I care about a ghost on a quidditch pitch? I mean I hardly even see the grey lady and like none of the other ghosts for that matter I meant people who were living" she flipped her hair not letting Charlotte get to her just yet "but that's nice for you I guess"

"Peeves isn't." she pointed out playfully, leaning back in her own seat that was much too large for her, fingercombing the ends of her hair. It was beginning to get long - she didn't have the motivation to cut it, she was beginning to like it this way. "Living, I mean." she added for explanation.
"I was only asking because you seemed like the type of person who knew. He's sorta cute." she added, just to be a brat.
