Soleus was seated next to Ashley around the large dining table, his ankles crossed and resting comfortably under the table, and his posture tall and proud as always, yet still looking settled as he watched the family around him. He stole a sideways glance at Ashley and managed a half smile, half smirk. "So," He said, his voice animated, "those were great canapés."
Sorry i've been away so long that the thread was closed, ugh! I don't have internet at home yet. If you didn't want to carry on this convo then we can start a different one? Also sorry this was a bit short. <3

Ashley who was lost in thought for a moment looked up at Soleus when he spoke to her smiling shyly "pardon? ...oh yeah" she replied softly chewing on her lower lip shyly, she fiddled with her fingers anxiously under the table her eyes darting around the room avoiding her mothers eyes that were lit up as she watched the young couple.

Soleus attempted an encouraging smile, which looked a bit strange playing on his usually sarcastic face. "You okay?" He mouthed, an eyebrow slightly raised.
He glanced up and tried to make conversation, sipping from his goblet intermittently. "So is this the whole family?" He asked, smiling plainly.

Ashley smiled and nodded mouthing "I'm fine" to Soleus then cleared her throat and ran her fingers through her hair "no, Alyson and Alex are still at school....Alex is in your year Alyson is in 5th and then Anette visiting with Broderick....my parents wanted just the 2 of us to have dinner with them first sort of a um trial run...." Janelle interjected "and we are just so pleased you are here" she smiled brightly with a nod, Warner eyed Soleus uneasily for a moment then looked up as a jet black owl peeked urgently at the window, clearing his throat he rose to his feet and walked over to the window opening it then frowned at the letter in his hands "I have to go, emergency at work" Ashley instantly frowned and looked let down her father constantly going away between his actual job and now that he was a Deatheater and her being at school she never saw him. Janelle looked equally as upset as she nodded and rose to her feet giving her husband a quick kiss goodbye "won't be long" he mumbled into her lips lovingly brushing his fingers through her hair then vanished instantly with a loud pop. _____________________________
Once Warner left it was obvious that Janelle's spirits had depleted and the meal ended quickly, Ashley was seated with Soleus in the obnoxious backyard at her parents home on 2 Victorian styled lawn chairs under a pristinely kept gazebo in the early evening, her mother inisting they go out to watch the sun set, Ashley sat beside Soleus in silence for a few moments before smiling at him kindly "thank you for coming and humoring my parents, I know it meant a lot to them especially my mother."

Soleus eyed Warner, an eyebrow raised in a curious manner. He wondered to himself what kind of emergency, and decided that he must have meant his other job, rather than as a Death Eater. Of course if there was another kind of emergency, Soleus would be the first to know, right? He absent-mindedly brushed a hand gently over his left forearm as he watched Warner vanish.
Soleus was sprawled comfortably in the lawn chair, his eyes focused on the horizon above the end of the garden. He turned and met Ashley's gaze as she spoke. "Don't thank me. It's ok. You don't have to be so nice to me, you know." He reached into his trouser pocket and pulled out a cigarette and placed it between his teeth, deciding that Janelle was far enough away not to notice. "I mean, I don't have much choice, either... Not that I wouldn't want to come it's just, well, either way I'd have to be here." he lit the end and took a small drag.

Ashley smiled and gave him an amused look "Soleus I am not daft...I know that you don't get much time to yourself and the last thing you want to be doing is playing happy couple with me and although I know you have to be here you could have made some excuse and left by now so" she took his hand in hers and squeezed it softly then looked away out at the sun sighing deeply.

Soleus dropped his other hand lazily onto the arm of the chair, flicking cigarette ash as far away from the flower beds as he could. He looked away from her again, feeling oddly comfortable. It wasn't that he was happy about the situation, far from it. He felt terrible for Ashley, really, he knew this wasn't what she wanted, and of course, personally he wasn't best pleased. But even in the face of all that he was happy to be around her, she was -maybe- a friend, and that, at least, was a positive. He gently squeezed her hand back, and settled even further into the chair.
After a while passed where they sat quietly, Soleus smoking intermittently, he subtly turned again to her and watched her face, a small smirk forming on his lips. "So do I actually have to marry you before I get you in a bed, then?" He cocked an eyebrow, playing with her. "Or is engagement good enough?"

Ashley was content with her own thoughts for the moment crinkling her nose as bits of smoke wafted into her nostrils she sneezed softly a few times "pardon me" she would mumbled each time, other than that there was only silence. Until Soleus spoke again, her eyes widened and her cheeks flushed at his question "I-I-I you...you I just I I'm but uh.." She stammered helplessly for a few seconds then smiled with a nervous giggle "w-we have to wait for um that...b-but if you want to um...well I mean I suppose I ought to let you - I-If you wanted to um..well you know" she sunk into her shoulders and watched him nervously "k-kiss me or something ...I'd have to let you"

He smirked at her response, finishing his cigarette and flicking it away. "You'd have to let me? Now that sounds a bit one-sided, Ashley." He leaned a little closer to her chair, feeling more himself flirting than acting like a responsible fiancée. He had always loved chasing after Ashley Godfrey and ironically he now had her hand. Not exactly the part I was after, he thought sadly. He also enjoyed her giggling response, and his smirk widened. "But you know it might be necessary." He spoke quietly, his face turning more serious. She was pretty hot, he thought, not for the first time.

Ashley widened her eyes once again and shook her head "I-oh what? No it's not" she corrected herself and flashed him a sheepish smile "I think we should...you should" she squeaked out nervously her cheeks still bright red as she bashfully looked at hi through her lashes.

Soleus' cocked eyebrow raised so far up his face it looked uncomfortable, and as he relaxed from the slight shock of Ashley's out-of-character remark his smirk reappeared. "You think I should...?" He drawled slowly, leaning slightly closer again, his gaze not leaving hers as he gently tipped up her chin to look at him with the edge of his curled forefinger. Maybe he could enjoy this. There was no harm in playing the part thoroughly, was there?

Ashley nervously averted her eyes from him until he tilted her chin to look at him she blushed shyly and mumbled nervously "well I suppose I figure..w-we should probably get used to it right?" She smiled bashfully and mumbled "I apologize if I am bad at it"

Soleus wondered how he should go about this. Soleus usually kissed for, well, foreplay. Not just for kissing's sake. He considered himself a good kisser, but the kind of kisser that made your toes curl, not the kind of kisser that made you fall in love. He smirked inwardly as he thought about this. He decided it wasn't his fault if that was the effect he had on women. He almost chuckled at the thought of Ashley enjoying being kissed so much she'd have to have more. Almost. Because even cocky, egotistical Soleus assumed that that was a stretch even by his standards. He made an agreement with himself to refrain from nipping at her lip or make contact with his tongue-piercing, that probably wasn't the best idea.
He smirked a small smirk and leaned in, gently brushing her mouth with his own. His jaw tightened as he kissed her, as he mentally battled the thoughts out of his head. This was Ashley Godfrey. The only way you'll get her in bed is if you marry her, capiche? He thought bitterly.
yeah I still love the tongue ring I can't get rid of it after all this time.

Ashley nervously stayed very still as Soleus remained close to her with no further movement for a long time, her heart rate picking up in nervousness as she studied his frustratingly unreadable expression "you do-" when she finally spoke her words were cut off by his lips moulding into hers, she instantly blushed and out of reflex felt she should pull away not wanting to give off the wrong impression but this was her future husband and she wanted to get used to doing what he expected of her so instead her tiny hand gently brushed trough his hair the other placed on his neck her finger tips brushing his skin.

Soleus tilted to one side, sliding their lips closer together into a more natural position. As she touched his neck so softly he had to swallow down a groan and focus hard not to grab her thighs and lift her small body weight directly into his lap. Instead his hand slid down to her collarbones, his thumb circling firmly against the material of her dress. He pulled away gently, and tipped her chin up again, looking steadily at her, not wanting her to do her usual of looking away from him. "I do ...what?" He said, his deep voice intruding and undeniably suggestive on the soft breeze of the quiet evening.
